people always talk
about saving the children
but the thing most people
don’t think about is that
they were once the CHILDREN
and no one saved them
they were conditioned
brainwashed
forced to obey
punished
brutalized
bullied
loved
treated with kindness
made to believe
in a fairy tale god
and follow the teachings
of other men
stripped of their
freedom
independence
wishes
dreams
choices
and then
told to go out
and make their
way in a corrupt world
that had been handed
down to THEIR parents
when they were children
a world THEY had
no part in making
so when people talk
about saving the children
maybe they better think
about saving themselves
first
or they won’t know what to do
to save the children of today
because it seems
that all anyone does
is pass on the same mistakes
that were handed down
to them
and that can never
make things better
because
what we’re doing
isn’t working
Save the children???

Allow me to summarize with a very short comment a friend from Grad school always says when we meet. When I ask her how she’s been, she says: “They lied to us!”
π
Life is a lie. We are conditioned to be what we become and if we break out of the rat maze, the punishment is swift and terrible.
“Life is but a walking shadow…” π
No matter what, I go back to Skaespeare:
“Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow…”
In just a few strophes a 16th-17th century man summed it all up…
:Life is but a waking shadow…” pretty much says it all.
It gets better. Do you know the entire “tirade” from Macbeth?
I do not.
Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow…
creeps in this petty pace from day to day
till the last syllable of recorded time.
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death!
Out! Out! Brief candle!
Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player, who struts and frets his hour upon the stage…
and then is heard no more.
It is a tale told by an idiot,
full of sound and fury,
signifying…
nothing.
(Macbeth)
Okay, I LOVE that. Thank you so much for turning me on to it. Grateful.
A good summary isnβt it? π
Good comment!
Thank you so much.

It’s perfect.
