Michelangelo’s David…Florence, Italy

His hands are in perfect proportion to his body.  The sculpture was supposed to be shown on a very high platform/pedestal and when seen from that position, his hands would look  normal.  Seeing David, up close and personal, is not like seeing him in books, believe me. He is amazing and I couldn’t even look at the other statues because nothing really matters but him.  The other statues were by Michelangelo as well, but they must have felt embarrassed to be in the same area.  LOL  Seriously, unfinished, dwarfed and sidelined, they were easy to pass by since all eyes were on David from the minute you walked into the room.  I couldn’t even listen to what anyone was saying, he’s that powerful.
