Neon…words

everything might be connected
by cells
atoms
the physical world
and nature
in general
but there’s a gigantic
disconnect
between us mentally
intellectually
emotionally
and in pretty much
every other way
we can pretend
that being “connected”
is important
but it’s meaningless
when it comes to our reality
because it’s simply not true
in ways that matter
in ways that stop
the violence
cruelty
hatred
prejudice
inequality
brutality
it doesn’t make
us kinder
nicer
sweeter
or anything else
the connection
is broken beyond repair
if it ever existed at all
we need to make up new sayings
sayings that are honest
sayings that can wake people up
things like
love is the answer
we are made of star dust
and all the rest
don’t get us anywhere
love and stardust
won’t stop war
or hatred
greed
sexism
racism
or anything else
I’m so tired of seeing
useless words
pretending to be meaningful
