Happy New Year’s Eve

Happy New Year
No one wanted to pose for the New Year drawing, so straws were drawn and Harold lost. His chicklet sister Mae stood by him for support.
the best thing you can do for yourself, for those you love and for the world…is BE HAPPY. Happiness can be contagious. If you’re happy, others will be happy as well and if a lot of us are happy, it will keep spreading until more and more people are happy and that’s something we can do for each other in the coming year. It’s free, you don’t need equipment or signs, you don’t need any gear or weird clothing and it doesn’t take any time at all…it’s portable and weighs nothing. You can take it anywhere you go and give it to anyone you like. So be happy and just by BEING happy, others will be happy too and what a wonderful thing that will be.
for
fingers
toes
or
ears
to
be
outside
and
the
night
likes
action
so
it’s
not
happy
when
everyone
is
inside
knowing
that
the
light
will
keep
it
out
of
our
living
spaces
the
darkness
waits
until
we
retire
then
it
slips
into
our
warm
and
toasty
rooms
where
it
silently
watches
over
us
until
morning
Squirrel
The Black Squirrel spent the afternoon munching on peanuts, corn and sunflower seeds. He chases the other squirrels away but sometimes he is forced to share because there are so many of them.
Flowers
The flowers remind me that spring will actually return…eventually. It’s ZERO outside and everything looks grubby from the snow melting and it’s patchy and there’s little color (no flowers or green). The beautiful trees reach toward the sky, their branches graceful and bare, except for the nests that are nestled there. Winter is wonderful, in its own way, but its ‘s COLD.
Celebrate
I don’t think we celebrate enough. Sure, big holiday celebrations that are driven by history or marketing are fun but I’m talking about everyday celebrations. Celebrating the little things in life adds zip to a day. A short happy dance to celebrate the last load of laundry or the changing of the sheets, makes things more fun to do. I think celebrations are a great way to enjoy life. You can celebrate anything. And, no, it’ doesn’t get tiring or boring…because you celebrate different things all the time. Like finding the perfect parking space, or having a delicious lunch. A few wiggles, arms over you head, a line from your favorite song, sung out loud and you have a party day, instead of a day that is average and repetitive. I like the fun that celebrating brings to life. Just a few times a day, to acknowledge joy and the silly part of life, can add a bit of sparkle to your daily existence.
