ENTIRE
world
sing at the
very same time
expressing their
CATNESS
joy
it’s really
cool
if you listen
you might be able
to hear them
if you hear them
consider yourself
gifted
with something
more special than you
can ever know

Catmas, the real story…
Kevin, Anita and Edna decided to tell the real story of Catmas. First, they said, the humans got it all wrong. There was no baby, there was a KITTEN. Kittens are often born in stables, so human males hijacked that part, like they steal everything else. There’s no such thing as three wise men, there are only wise cats. And the stars and humans never entered into it, let along camels. Here’s the real story:
a kitten was born
he was cute
his claws were sharp
but so were his sister’s
she was born a second after he was
she was even cuter
bigger
and stronger
she looked at her brother
and sighed
she told him not to worry
their mother
whispered their TRUE names
into their ears
as every cat who has ever lived
has done to their children
no matter what anyone calls you
she said
remember your TRUE names
then she licked them and fed them
and told them to nap
a few neighborhood cats
stopped by
to congratulate the mom
and check out the new kittens
they brought gifts
bits of fish
and cheese
a nice piece of string
then they all laid around
and licked their paws
rolled in the straw
and fell asleep
or chatted
until
everyone go up
and welcomed
the new Goddess
into their clowder
the Goddess
nodded
stared
at each cat
and a bond was formed
she was their leader
it would be up to her
to protect them
and watch over them
SHE
was the Mighty Cat Goddess
a direct
descendent
of
Bastet
hear her
ROAR
