puffins
always look
as if they are dressed
for a ball
a night on the town
or grocery shopping
there’s just something about them
that makes them
look as if they
get up early
so they are never surprised
and always prepared
for whatever comes next
colorful
and beautiful
they stand out
in any crowd

Fall…words.

a perfect fall picture
the beautiful leaves
the green bike
everything
but it’s supposed to
snow
tonight
not a lot
but maybe
enough to see
when we wake up tomorrow
because dates
on a calendar
don’t matter
the seasons
pretty much do
what they want to do
when they want to do it
so winter is kicking fall
to the curb and bringing
the high temperatures
during the day
in the 20’s and 30’s
so button up
grab a scarf
and get ready
cuz
more than Santa
is stopping by

not sure if the gift

but he seems to have

so I think he has

The forest…words

we can feel this place
smell it
we know what the air is like
the sounds
it’s primordial
built into our
DNA
we are part of it
it’s part of us
sometimes we forget
that we are part of nature

I think people are like this wall
losing bits of themselves
with each passing day
peeling off the unnecessary parts
getting  back to basics
always beautiful
just wanting to see
where everything
began

Scary Christmas cookies…words

scary cookies
looks like a prison break
or the Joker
on a bad day
weird smiles
and escaped
from the hospital eyes
but with a little
frosting
perhaps
they won’t
come looking for you
during the night
keep the cookie jar
sealed tight
and don’t give them to the
wildlife
just to be safe

Pigeons…

pigeons have worked for us
for years
dedicated
they carried notes
through war zones
been there for us
when we needed them
and then people turned on them
calling them terrible names
ignoring their beauty
intelligence
diligence
humans
treat the things
they no longer want
like garbage
whether it has a
heartbeat or not
no other species
does that
we respect nothing
not even each other
but I love pigeons
and I’m glad some folks
feed them
and love them as well

The Matrix…

nothing is solid
things are simply
moving at different rates
of vibration
the matrix
is alive
with movement
but we are severely limited
by our five senses
and have no idea
what’s going on around us
we ebb
and flow
along with everything else
nothing is certain
it never was
we are more than we think
or maybe less
we are
energy
trapped
inside a body suit
trying to get out
