Star Child lives among us. She is here to stop the violence and destruction. If we don’t stop we will become extinct. After we are gone the earth, and everything on it, will prosper, because we are Death to all living things. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t doing the killing, it only matters whether or not you are trying to stop it. We are war, we are violence, we are destruction, we are Death. Nothing on earth is like us. Instead of bragging about how great we are we should be hanging our heads in shame. We live on a beautiful planet, one we are fortunate enough to share with amazingly wonderful wildlife and flowers. We have oceans filled with living things and we POISON, HUNT, POLLUTE AND KILL EVERYTHING. So, while we celebrate ourselves and all the stuff we make up in our heads, maybe we should think about changing the way we live. Maybe we should stop beating each other and killing each other, and destroying the planet and the OTHER animals (people often forget we are animals ourselves). Maybe we should think about what we will drink when there is no more water. Maybe we should think about what life will be like without food because we have killed the bees. Maybe we should think about what it’s like to live in below zero temps ALL the time, as we slid into another ice age. Maybe we should think about NOT clear cutting our forests and strip mining our land. Maybe we should just think. After that, maybe we should get out into the street and DEMAND change because this is what we are leaving to our grandchildren and all those who MIGHT come after them. We will be leaving them a world with books (if there are any left) filled with pictures so they can see what we took from them. So they can see what the earth was like before we did the things we did. I think the time for silence has passed. Our government is useless, greedy and full of itself. They have no connection with the people in all the ways that matter. They fight themselves for power and money. Instead of fighting people in other countries, maybe we should be fighting our own government. We need to STOP pollution, not fine companies for years and years and years, while they spew toxic waste into our air and water. Ya know, I’m a “live in the NOW,” kind of person, I really am, but the future looks bleak when it comes to the basic needs of life. All of our electronic devices will not feed us or give us water. We are the caretakers of the earth and look what we are doing. Look what we have done. We kill seals, club them to death, we kill whales…we kill everything that is beautiful, everything that is innocent and cannot fight back. It’s so sad and unnecessary. There’s something really wrong with us as a species. I mean aside from the fact that we are stupid beyond belief. Stupidity is the only reason people would poison their own water supply, right? Our species has been her for the tiniest amount of time and we have caused more damage than the entire time the planet has been habitable. How long do you think it will be before we wipe ourselves off the face of the earth?
Don’t you wonder what we could be doing if we weren’t fighting all the time? What great and fabulous things could we do that would be life affirming? Instead. our government negotiates with other governments to try to stop bombs from being built, to try and stop atrocities from taking place. But what if we weren’t crazy, what if we used our time to plant trees and care for the oceans and the animals and the land. What if we used our time to CREATE rather than DESTROY.
If it’s hard to imagine, that’s just because it’s never been done.
Art is what it is…
Art just is. The meaning of a piece is made up by the individual who is looking at it. It doesn’t actually matter what the artist had in mind when she created the work because the person viewing it sees what he/she sees no matter what the true intent was. It can’t be helped. We are each a product of our conditioning and what we see is based on who we are, where we come from and all of our experiences and beliefs up to the present moment. We interpret what we see and what we see becomes what we want it to be, what we need it to be or even what we expect it to be. The work of art BECOMES what we envision it to be, heedless of artist’s original vision. I think that a work of art is constantly BECOMING…it never stops. Each time it is seen it becomes something else. But I also think that every work of art has a true sense of self that it can’t help but get when it’s born.
