The chicklets are celebrating summer in the garden…Albert has allergies, hence the mask.

Those at The Coop really know how to enjoy the summer days…

The chicklets sometimes put the babies into pails, so they are safe, while they are wading in the Rubber Duck Pond

The chicklets were up early this morning. They were down at the Rubber Duck Pond building sandcastles and getting ready to swim, which they definitely cannot do. They just like to dress up. You never see a wet chicklet unless one is caught in the rain.

For Brian. I didn’t have time to paint a new one, but this is a rerun for a few summers ago…chicklets cooling off.

The chicklets are ready for summer, but…it’s just too early for that kind of fun.

Dreaming about summer and flowers, color, sunshine, warm breezes and birdsong. A poem.

people often say
don’t long for things
enjoy the moment
don’t think about
the freezing cold
the ice
filthy snow
darkness
mud
flooding
and all the rest
sure
snow can be beautiful
sparkling like diamonds
under the light of the moon
on a silent night
silent
because the wind
isn’t blowing forty miles an hour
then it’s magical
that lasts for ten minutes
but flowers
summer days
and nights
are wonders
for the senses
for the heart
and mind
showing us
the beauty
of Mother Nature
Herself
long summer days
OPEN WINDOWS
bird song
I think those
who don’t understand that
are cyborgs
from somewhere else
in the Universe
or mole people
those who love
damp, cold, wet
darkness
yes
definitely mole people
definitely

Fall…

person holding brown dried leaf

it’s hot
still summer
but if you take a
deep breath
you can smell
fall
waiting in the wings
flowers
are starting
to go to sleep
