We might be small…but we can make big things…Art

Why is it, that in all the old cemeteries, especially in Europe, it’s always statues of women mourning? Seriously, men do not seem to care, or mourn. The only time they are seen is if it’s a statue of themselves…no angels, weeping men, thrown across tombs…nothing. I guess that’s just one more job women are expected to do…lay on graves.

The incredible work of RICHARD MACDONALD…3 pictures

img_7481

This fantastic gallery is located close to the Aria Hotel and Casino and I LOVE it.  While visiting, I was fortunate enough to meet the wonderful Myrna Soderquist. I asked her if I could post a picture, as well as the information on this incredible artist, and she said that I could.  She was an absolute delight and I’m so happy to have met her.

Macdonald’s sculptures have a raw power that draws the viewer in and makes the work feel alive. There is so much tension in his art, it’s as if the statues are working hard not to move while people are looking at them.  His work is powerful, graceful, beautiful and enticing.  I can’t say enough about this stunning collection of work.

He uses live models and the statue below, “The Guardian,” is the statue that I one day hope to own.  It’s such a strong and emotional piece.  His  sculptures are delicate, yet filled with great strength and control.  I truly feel as if the statues come alive, once the gallery is closed, and dance until they hear the key in the lock, after which they quickly return to their proper positions, where they are once again forced to remain still.

If you would like to know more about this artist, call: Myrna Soderquist, at the above numbers, and she will be happy to help you.  His work comes in a variety of sizes, by the way, and prices vary accordingly.  Be sure to look up his site and if you are in Vegas, stop in to to see his work.
