The Rubber Duck Committee…

Ann and Jeffery are currently in charge of the Rubber Duck Committee.  Their purpose is to make sure the Rubber Duck Pond is fully stocked with colorful and happy Rubber Ducks.  They do a wonderful job and everyone is delighted when they spot a new Rubber Duck in the pond.  There are twenty-five chicklets on the Committee and they are very dedicated.

Rubber ducks

Rubber ducksI went outside, to trim the flowers, and there they were…rubber ducks.  I don’t know how they got outside.  Several of them were enjoying the morning, sitting in flower pots and bird seed.  They stayed out there for a few hours.  Eventually, they came back inside and headed for the bathtub.

Rubber duck An angel was floating in the sink this morning.  I never know what to expect but this was not in the running.  The angel seems to be staying for awhile and the other ducks and the fish, yes, the fish is back, are thrilled.

A fish?

A fish?I was quite surprised to find a fish swimming with the ducklings.  He was only here for a day or two but I managed to get a picture of him.

toys

Dave had a birthday and everyone apparently chipped in and got him a pull toy.  When I was out taking pictures of Baby Cakes, I found him paling on the potting table.  I let him play for a while, then brought them both inside.

The diving board

The diving boardIt seems that the ducks have found a new way to amuse themselves.  They are diving off of the kitchen faucet into the water filled sink.  They seem to be enjoying themselves but they do splash quite a bit.

The ducks…

The ducks...

were on the bench chatting early this morning.  The sun is now out so I’m sure the ducks will be in the yard having a great time later this afternoon.  They are currently napping, after their unscheduled, crack of dawn, romp.

Birdbath

After rock climbing, there was a group swim in the old copper birdbath.  The ducks stayed there for quite some time squeaking and floating around.  They were hoping for a bit of  sun but, of course, that was simply wishful thinking.  Chicago gets three hours of sun a year and usually not all at one time.  I sang “Gray skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy…” but they knew it wasn’t true.  They smiled, never the less, and bobbed up and down, jut to let me know they appreciated the effort.
