Okay, so…reality

Q.  What is reality?

A.  Reality is whatever we say it is.  Reality, is what we make it.  It’s different for each of us.  Reality isn’t static, it’s elastic.  We reshape it constantly.

We make things seem real.  And, what we make seem real…is different for each of us.  In other words, none of us live in the same reality.  There isn’t a “same” reality, there are only individual realities and points of view.

Love…and what the world needs now.

Friends, Cat And Dog, Pets, Cat, Dog

We need more love in the world.  We need more kindness.  We will never love everyone.  It’s not possible, but I think we can be a bit more kind and polite.  No one can even define what love means.  Ask the billions of people who are divorced about their definitions.

We can be kind to strangers, without loving them.  We don’t have to love people to open a door for them.  Love isn’t something everyone can do, or give, but kindness is. Being polite doesn’t carry any meaning and it’s short term.  We can’t love everyone, and not everyone wants to be loved by others.  That’s an IMPORTANT point.  Many people do not want someone’s love, or attention.  Kindness is a different thing, but even then, people have to be careful not to intrude or over step their bounds.  Every word has its own definition.

We need to be more realistic about what is possible.  Loving everyone is not possible.  It never was and never will be.  We can’t even protect children from their parents.  We can’t actually DO anything, to stop the hatred and violence that is everywhere, so loving everyone is a joke.

We need to come up with better solutions and get real, if we truly want things to change.  We need to forget about loving each other and try for something that’s possible.  Being polite.  Being kind.  And even then…what will we do with those who are filled with hatred and violence?  Those who only want power over others and more for themselves?

Look at it this way.  When someone is simply kind, it can make the news, because it’s that rare.  Think about that.  An act of kindness can be newsworthy, in a world where hatred and violence are the norm.

We need to forget about love and just try to be more polite until we can think of something better.

And, by the way, the cat in the picture could take the dog in a second.  The cat has all the power.  All she has to do is change her mind about being civil, and the dog’s toast.  Just like in human life.  Exactly like in human life.  It’s not the one who has the most toys who wins, it’s the one who has the most power over us.

Perception…reality.

Ancient, Blind, Boys, Brain, Cartoon

If there is an underlying reality, we don’t know what it is.  There are only individual realities.  Individual realities are forced to co-exist, since we are in the same space, seeing and experiencing the same things differently, each in our own way, at the same time.

There is no “normal” because no one can describe what “normal” is.  The person writing the definition would be writing if from her/his own perspective/world view. That goes for everything.  All psychology, philosophy, all definitions are from the perspective of the author, the teachers, and what you yourself take away from the writing or the lectures because you hear and read through your own point of view.

We can never escape our own individual reality.  It’s impossible, because it’s who and what we are. We learn and change, according to who we are.  That’s the whole point.  Whatever we do, we do it from our own perspective/reality.  It can’t BE any other way.  We can never not be who we are.  The fact that we don’t know who we are, not really, has nothing to do with it.  We react, hear, see, feel and experience the world from that personal one-of-a-kind place.

When people read the something, and tell you what it says, they are telling you what it means to them, or what they learned from someone else.  No one really knows what an author meant when she wrote something unless she tells you herself.  Even then, people will disagree with her.  I’ve seen that happen.  The song, by Peter, Paul and Mary, Puff the Magic Dragon is not about drugs.  They said that over and over again.  They wrote it.  They sang it.  But a lot of people don’t believe them.

The bottom line is that everything is in play.  Free floating, the meaning open to interpretation by anyone and everyone, according to each person’s reality, which is always and forever, one-of-a-kind.

Often times, when we agree with someone, we are agreeing to different things but we just don’t realize it.

That’s why witnesses all see something different.  We all read a different book, even though it’s the same book.  We go through life on assumptions.  We assume we are talking about the same things, when we are not.  We assume we understand each other, but we do not.

Reality is an interesting concept.  Joint reality is simply made up of all of our individual realities.  Realities are an individual concept that we agree to see as some kind of whole.  It’s like a huge joint dream or hallucination.  It’s a way to try and survive together, but it’s not real.

When our realities are too far apart, we kill each other, or hate each other, or elect an idiot.  Realities do clash and people are sometimes surprised, never realizing that we are all living in different worlds, that just happen to be in the same place.

We are all conditioned and brainwashed to believe certain things.  We can over come that, but our core is something we’re born with.  There’s no overcoming that part of ourselves.  There’s no overcoming ourselves and what we think the world is.  People can lie to themselves and to each other, but we are who we are and what we see is the only thing that’s real to each of us.  We can never walk in anyone else’s shoes.  We can be in the same situations, but we won’t experience things in the same way.  We can only experience things in our own way, anything else is impossible.

Empathy just means that we recognize that someone is going through something and we will support them while they are in that place. If you think that you understand what the person is going through, you’re understanding it in your own individual way, which may have nothing to do with what the person experiencing her/himself.

Reality…

Boy, Child, Cooperation, Dad, Daughter

Reality, as we know it, is created by each of us, as we move through space/our lives.  Everything we do, or decide, adds to the reality for the whole.  When we, or someone/thing dies, those parts of the reality end and their threads are cut.  The new reality, without those who are gone, simply moves forward.   So, reality is always changing, changed by those who leave, and by those who begin anew.

There is always a reality.  Even if there will eventually be nothing, that nothing will be the new reality. But at the moment, every thing that pops into, or out of, existence, changes reality in some way.  That includes stars, dying planets, birds, fish…everything in this universe as we know it.

We are all actors on a stage and when our part has ended, we exit right, but the play goes on, just without us.  I think the name of the play we’re in is called, REALITY, but we don’t know who wrote it, or who’s directing it.  We are simply ad libbers working without a script, making it up as we go along.  There are no intermissions, or time outs, it’s a play that’s on going, at least until the sun eats the planet. But by then, we may have moved to a new playhouse.

Reality…

life
is lived in our minds
our bodies just follow
all beauty
creativity
love
joy
and
REALITY
comes
from
our
brain
what we
think
is
who
and
what
we
are
ask yourself
who taught you to
think
who taught you
what to believe
are you living
someone else’s
vision
or your own

Reality…a poem for my husband

Farewell, Say Goodbye, Bye, Road, Shield

your eyes were closed
your breathing ragged
you were getting ready
to leave
to go where I couldn’t follow
so I gave you everything
I knew I would no longer need
once you were gone
I put everything into a little pile
then wrapped my heart
around it
and pressed it into
your beautiful chest
so wherever you are now
the best parts of me
are still with you

When reality, such as it is, is not enough…

Reality…

the
world
is
made
up
of
mismatching
parts
that
we
spend
our
lives
trying
to
make
fit
together
in
a
way
that
will
stop
us
from
destroying
the
planet
and
everything
on
it

we
are
failing
miserably

you
know
that
