Meet Joyce…

Joyce is a lovely, free roaming, hamster.  She lives in a field behind a house with a garden.  She feels quite fortunate, since there’s a ready supply of food always available.  Once, the being who lived there came out of her house, so Joyce froze in place, and tried to blend in.  She thought she’d done a good job but from then on there was always a small pile of food, at the edge of the garden, as if the being left it there, just for her.

The woman in the house watched the hamster nibble her way through the garden.  She knew the hamster was partial to strawberries and made sure there were one or two of them available for her each day.  She also left a pile of mixed seeds for her, as well as the occasional cheeto.

A lovely friendship was born in that garden.  But then everyone knows, that’s what gardens are for.

Prudence is a sweet hamster.   Her favorite things are eating, sleeping, constructing fabulous nests, playing in plastic tubes and running on her wheel.

Meeka gets all the attention because she’s a people hamster but Pru, who is very shy, is a cutie as well.  Here she is, sitting on her wheel, having a snack:)

Yes, this is a confusing and bad picture but it was taken through the top of a hamster cage and I was in a hurry.  This is Sweet Meeka and her Christmas gift.  She tried to open it by herself but it was twice as big as she is so we opened it for her.  She did have fun crawling on it and nibbling at the paper, however, so a good time was had by all.

I got to play with Meeka today. She is so adorable. She likes (well tolerates) kisses. She’s still doing great so we are all happy.

Meeka is a Winter White Dwarf Hamster. She is feeling better already and takes her drops very nicely because she is adorable.

Fabulous hamster

Meeka is a truly fabulous hamster. If I had to describe her personality in one word it would be NEON. She shines like a star and she is sweet and adorable in every way. She had to go to the vet today. She was a “free” hamster. Kids who had her went away to collage and didn’t want her anymore. My daughter took her but she was sick and she didn’t know it. The doctor said that most hamsters die from what she has but that her prognosis is “VERY GOOD.” He said with her attitude and personality she was going to be okay. She has medicine that will make her well. We love her very much and she is smothered with kisses and gets to trundle through the grass under close supervision. She is the most wonderful hamster I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. There are two others, in a different cage, Lucy and Prudence but they are a different breed and are not at all sociable. Well, Lucy more that Pru. But you just have to call Meeka and she comes out of her house and is ready to play. She has a good home with people who adore her and so far the “free” hamster has only cost $150. She’s worth every penny. We love her.
