Fall…a poem of sorts

fall is a gateway
holding back
winter
as long as it can
but we all know
that winter
always wins
no one
or nothing
can stand up
to winter’s
freezing temperatures
mounds of snow
and slippery ice
but eventually
spring
in her grass green
ballet slippers
twirls in
and winter sighs
knowing that
all that sweet
newness
is so cute
it will literally melt
its heart
making room
for a new gateway
to summer
when the cycle
will begin once again

Beware, fall approaches and the fairies are awake…a poem

brown dried leaves display

the falling of leaves
and the crunching sound
of footfalls
alert the wee folk
of our approach
they smile with glee
as they wait for their traps
to be sprung
laughing
as we untangle ourselves
never realizing
how close we have come
to being enslaved

Fall…

person holding brown dried leaf

it’s hot
still summer
but if you take a
deep breath
you can smell
fall
waiting in the wings
flowers
are starting
to go to sleep

THE COLORS OF FALL…a poem

I would like
wallpaper
that looked just like
this
beautiful colors
and shapes
covering a wall
bringing the wildness
inside
and I would want it
BIG AND BOLD
no tiny leaves
small and hard to see
not for me
but an explosion of
fall
arranged
to perfection
by
Mother Nature
Herself

Daughter’s pictures of a leaves…(2 pictures) and a poem

some believe that
leaves turn colors
in the fall
because of a chemical
reaction
but it’s not true
leaves turn
colors
to celebrate
their freedom
the freedom
to detach
from the tree
and fly

The Colors of Fall…poem

brown dried leaves on ground

browns
and reds
gold and purple
wet leaves
dress up
the streets
sidewalks
and ground
making a carpet
of beauty
on which
summer can
make her exit
