Snails…

“Why do you think everyone else is in such a hurry?” he asked.

“I’m not sure.  Maybe they just have a lot to do,” she said.

“Like what?”

“I don’t know.”

“They always seem so rushed.  They never sit on the grass, or look at the sky.  We can spend the entire day on this board and have a wonderful time.”

“That’s true, but we don’t really get very far,” she said, moving closer to him.

“Why would we want to go far?”

“Maybe there are interesting things someplace else.”

“More interesting than what we have?”

“Yes.  More interesting than that,” she laughed.

“I’m pretty happy, aren’t you?”

“I’m very happy, but aren’t you curious?” she asked.

“Curious about what?”

“About what else is out there?”

“I just assume that what’s out there is simply more of what we already have.”

“Do you really think so?”

“Yes,” he said.  “Why?  Do you think there’s something different farther away?”

“I do,” she said.  “I feel as if our lives are rather small.”

“But we have everything we need, including each other.”

“I know that, I just feel as if…”

“As if what?”

“As if there’s more to life than this spot has to offer,” she said.

“More of what?” he asked.

“I don’t know.”

Are you unhappy?”

“No.  I’m…simply wondering,” she said.

“I’m content,” he said.

“Oh,” she sighed, happily  “Content is the very best thing to be.”

  1. 🐌 imagine contentment in the human species… what an improvement! 🐌

    • Can’t imagine that anymore that I can imagine PEACE and no more wars or violence against women, children or animals. Maybe if people were content they wouldn’t want to fight any longer. Maybe if we stopped TRAINING people how to kill each other they wouldn’t do it either. But, sadly, that’s never going to happen.
