Book…in French…I do not read French

So, I picked up this book yesterday, at Half Price Books.  It’s in French.  It’s obviously about food.  The word passion is always a good word, so how bad can it be, right?   I thought bouffant was a hairstyle but, as I said, I don’t read French.  It may just mean “plenty, or over the top fabulous.”

I’m in love with Paris and the color plates in this book are fantastic, so it’s on the shelf.  I have one other book in French, because it’s in French, and the artwork is also great.

I never ask myself why I do things, I just do them.  I don’t ask myself those questions because I never have any answers, so it’s a waste of time.  I did pick up a poem book in Italy, that’s in Italian, but only on once side of the page.  The other side is in English.  I buy books wherever I go.  Those are always my souvenirs.  Unfortunately, I have to limit myself, since books are HEAVY.  Therefore, poetry books are usually what I look for.

The above book is beautiful and has deckled edges (I LOVE deckled edges).  So, the book is living with me now and that’s just the way it is.  I keep telling myself it’s a novel about vegetarians and the guy in the print is eating tofu…that makes me happy.

  1. I also buy beautiful books I can’t read. They Re just lovely to add to the collection.

    • I’m so happy to know that. Thank you. Really, thank you so much. I love books, for what they are, even if I can’t read them. 🙂

      • For example, I have a book “If Not Winter: fragments of Sappho”….it’s so discombobulated with only the fragments of what is left of Sappho’s poetry, makes no sense, but it is beautifully covered and the pages are like parchment, I really love it.

  2. It sounds wonderful! I often buy books for their looks, the covers, the artwork, the edges, everything that’s beautiful. I’m sure that book is gorgeous and that’s one thing about them that makes them so lovable and special…the way they look. ❤
