“I knew you were the ewe for me the second I saw you walking down the lane. I mean you’re beautiful, artistic, and everything I’ve ever wanted in a female.”
“Mmmmm,” she murmured.
“You know how to keep the mystery going,” he said. “I know you don’t want lambs, since it would get in the way of your art, and I’m okay with that. I just want you to be happy. I love ewe.”
“Mmmmm,” she repeated.
“I wish you would say something.”
“Okay,” she said. “As long as you know that you can’t control me and you don’t own me.”
“Never,” he said, shocked. “You’ve been very quiet. What do you think of me?”
“You have nice eyes and a healthy looking coat.”
“Thank you.”
She nodded. “You’ve read a lot, so that’s a plus.”
“Do you think you can learn to love me?” he asked.
“Do you promise we’ll always stay free? Never live on a farm?”
“I do.”
“Then, I’m willing to try,” she said, nibbling on the grass.
“That’s good enough for me.”
She nodded.
And at that very moment, they started their life…together
