How they met…

Ladybugs, Ladybirds, Bugs, Insects

“My name is Bug,” he said, standing on the leaf.

“My name is Lady,” she said.

“That was my mom’s name,” he smiled.  “It’s beautiful.”

“It was my mom’s name as well,” she said, crouching low.

“Did you hear about the fire?”

“I did,” she said, fear in her voice. “Fortunately, she got home in time to save her children.”

“Everyone was happy about that.”

“It was a close call.  If she hadn’t been sitting on that human’s hand and listened to what he was saying, she may not have gone directly home.”

“You’re right.  He told her to fly away home and she did.”

“Would you like to stand on a different leaf?” she asked.

“Sure,” he said.  “And, by the way, I like your spot distribution.”

“Thank you,” she said.  “I like yours as well.”

“Are you going with anyone?” he asked, as they flew to a new plant.

“No.  Are you?”

“No” he said.  “Maybe we could hang out together.”

“I’d like that,” she said.

They landed and when the leaf stopped moving, he asked if she might want to move in with him.  “I know it’s sudden, but we only live two to three years, so we don’t have a lot of time to waste. Kids try and catch us, don’t forget that.”

“Can we move somewhere where there are no kids?”

“I know just the place,” he said, happily.

“Then yes.  I’ll move in with you.”

And they flew into the open field and went on their merry way.
