Chicago…

I
have
a
love
hate
relationship
with
Chicago
I
LOVE
the
city
but
hate
the
weather
98%
of
the
time

how
can
this
wee
parcel
of
real
estate
be
in
just
the
exact
place
where
the
sun
NEVER
shines
while
the
thick
gray
dark
clouds
just
move
in
and
stay

what’s
with
that

  1. Years ago I had the opportunity to move to Chicago where’d my father in law owns a business. I love Chicago too but chose to stay put. I often wonder if I made a mistake. Love your poetry, it’s fantastic.

    • It’s hard to know but at least you can be happy that you don’t have winter and darkness. So I think you made the right choice, not to mention that everyone is leaving because of the taxes, etc. So you did good, as they say.:)

      • It is doubtful I would be that adaptable to the cold weather. 😊

      • Chicago gets 84 sunny days a year. I don’t believe that for a second. Supposedly we have 104 days part sun, which means if you wake up too late you’ve missed it, believe me. Yesterday the sun came out just before it set! How does that make a partly sunny day? Blah. Sometimes, when it’s not snowing, it’s freezing cold when the sun does come out in the winter. But that’s NOT the kind of summer sun we are looking for.

      • Has it always been this way? We have lots of family there and used to be in Milwaukee , they never complained, although many have moved to Florida. Lol. That really sounds dreary. It’s beautiful here near the ocean but hurricane season starts June 1st. IT Gets scary in August thru Nov. when the big storms come off the coast of Africa. Puerto Rico is still a mess We’ve done little to help them and many have come here . They are allowed to vote if hey are in the US , today a Rep candidate for senate said we shouldn’t allow them to vote. They are really afraid of that and should be.

      • Yes, they should be afraid. I know that even though we live in the dark and cold, most of the time, our wether is not as dangerous as a lot of other places, that’s for sure. We get tornadoes. If one ever hit the city I can’t even image what a disaster that would be but it doesn’t happen. At least it hasn’t so far. I don’t remember having so many dark days when I was growing up. And I know we’ve broken some records on darkness. Our school never had a snow day. I literally walked a mile to grade school everyday no matter how much snow was on the ground. We walked in groups, picking kids up on hte way. But the weather has pretty much been the same I guess. Today is picture perfect and tomorrow it jumps to 90 degrees. From winter coats (last week in the 40s and rain) to sun and 90…gotta love it. So you still have family up here. Now is the perfect time to visit.

      • Welcome to the 90’s. We are fast approaching our hottest days. Light candles sweet lady, stay in the light!

      • From heat to air conditioning. 🙂 You’ll be staying in to avoid frying and your flowers will be wanting a lot of water.

It sounds just like Toronto. Here, we blame the lake … lake effect. Right!
This has been the darkest 8 month period in the MANY years I have lived here.
Anyway, I’m over at Art Gowns, working on the post.
Being obsessive, I rep-pressed the new Art Gown. It only took 3 f8764ng hours. Of course it was bleak and dark outside, so I didn’t get a great pic. I thought, tomorrow will be sunny! I’ll shoot this freshly pressed and styled gown then.
At 4 a.m. I awoke to the sound of thundering hooves. It was the cats. In my heart I knew they were attacking the gown.
I was so tired , I just fell back asleep, hoping it was all a dream. Not!
The tail was beyond disheveled, the hem was askew and all of the pleats were mis-aligned.
there was even 1 quite long snag pull. The mark of the Jeep! Uch, she’s good!

    • OMG I can’t believe the cats did that! Oh, Resa. I’m so sorry..a long snag!!!! Well, whatever you do, it will be beautiful and no one else will notice, believe me. There is a cookie notice on your site, by the way.

      • Resa says:

        A cookie notice? ???

      • Resa says:

        I found this:
The Cookie Law is a piece of privacy legislation that requires websites to get
consent from visitors to store or retrieve any information on a computer, smartphone or tablet.
        I delete cookies regularly.
        I do not consent.
        Nonetheless, info is gathered.

      • OMG I don’t know how to delete anything. I definitely don’t consent. I’ll find the mailing and post it. Thank you.

Please copy & send cookie notice in comments … if you can
