Annie…7

There was a tap on the front door and several of the cats started to hiss and do Halloween cat, backs arched, running sideways on their toes, their fur standing straight up into the air.

“It’s him,” sighed Annie.  “I can smell him too.”

Lucifer opened the door and said, “Yes?”

“Funny,” said the angel.

“What do you want?”

“I want Annie.”

“Is that a joke?” asked Lucifer.

“It’s not.  I’ve come to take her home.”

“THIS is my home and I’m not going ANYWHERE with you,” snapped Annie, her hand on her hips, as she stood next to Lucifer.

“Don’t you want to know why I want you back?”

“Is he serious,” asked Annie, staring up at Lucifer.

“Probably,” he said, staring down at her. “Seems serious to me.”

Butch started growling and leaned against Annie.  Dottie stood next to him, her lips pulled back, he sharp fangs showing.  The doorway had becoming rather crowded, to say the least.

“You’re upsetting the puppies Gabe.  Why don’t you admit defeat and just walk away,” said Lucifer, his hand on Annie’s shoulder.

“I can make you come back,” said Gabe, darkly, staring at Annie.

Annie lifted both hands toward Gabe and shouted, “GO AWAY,”  and just like that, the angel disappeared.

“Uh,” said Lucifer, looking down the hallway.  “Where did you send him?”

“I’m not sure,” said Annie, thoughtfully.  “I was too angry to think of any particular place.”

“I see,” mumbled Lucifer, looking at the ceiling and then down the hallway again.  “So, no idea where he is, right?”

“Nope.  None at all.”

“Okay then.  Well, I’m sure he’ll find his way home.”

“Hmmm,” said Annie, squinting a little.  “Maybe not.”

“What do you mean?” asked Lucifer.

“I kind of said, Go Away…Forever.   But maybe no one will notice that he’s gone.”

“Actually, I think a lot of someones’ will notice that he’s gone,” said Lucifer. “But let’s not worry about that now.  I ordered two large pizzas and I’m going to make a salad, after which we can have….”

“CHOCOLATE CAKE,” shouted Clark and Annie at the same time.

“There’s also ice cream,” said Lucifer, smiling, while wondering how long it would take before someone realized that his older brother was missing.
