Okay, so…

I was thinking about the saying, “Life is what you make it.”  Actually, I think life is all about dealing with the things it throws at us.  It’s not as if we can make any life we like because we constantly  have to deal with what life gives us.  So, if the saying was, “Life is what you make out of all the stuff that is thrown at you WITHOUT your consent,” then I could go with that one.    Every person, if given the choice, would design their lives differently, which isn’t to say that people aren’t happy, it’s just that we have no choice in what actually happens to us and it’s silly to pretend that we do.  No one wants to starve, be poor, work at a job they hate, be sick, bury loved ones, be afraid, see their kids lost to drugs, disease, accidents, or war.  No one wants to be trapped in loveless relationships, lose their homes in floods or fires, be beaten, robbed or assaulted.  I could go on, but you get my drift, right?  So facing the fact that we survive by defending ourselves on a daily basis, against the things that crash into us, we can see that the original saying needs work.  Because let’s face it, we are born into a certain socio/economic position.  We look the way we look and we are GIVEN the things the society we live in ALLOWS us to have.  Life beats at us from our first breath to our last, which for some, is one in the same.  And being “good” doesn’t protect us, NOTHING protects us, and that’s what we need to realize.  So our choices are:  1.  Overthrow the system, or  2.  Don’t follow the rules and just have as much fun as we can before the next house falls on us.  I’d like to overthrow the system but the system has all the guns and people don’t want to help me and I can’t do it alone, so I guess it’s just the fun thing and hope the house stays in the air as long as possible.
